Multiple units at one time
Chris_174961
I'm contemplating buying 2 units to run a larger bath. Can this be done? I read a review from serious eats saying at this time you can only run one unit per device. Has this issue been addressed?

Not yet. They're working on it.

How big of a bath are you thinking? Joule is said to handle up to 40 liters with an insulated container if I'm not mistaken

I've seen the specs, my container is 56 liters. Right now I use 2 Anova circulators. I was hoping to upgrade to something newer and better, but not being able to use 2 at once kills it for me.

You could start one Joule then unpair it then pair with the other one and start it. I have not tried this yet but I will as soon as my second Joule arrives. In theory yes you could. ChefSteps has said they are working on the feature to allow you to run multiple Joule's from the same app, which is supposed to be released in an upcoming version of the Joule app. One thing to note is that if you do have two devices to run two Joules you will also need to have two accounts and run each Joule on a separate account until they come out with the multiple Joule version of the app.

Um, in my experience you CAN run two Joules using two devices but the same account. Pair Joule1 with one device and Joule2 on the second device. No need for two accounts.
I used an iPad to run one Joule and an iPhone for the other. Even had them running in the same Cambro while I was testing some functions.

Hi Chris, I have 2 and found you can do this in one of three ways:
1. Use the same device, same app, and pair/unpair between Joules. Not convenient, but works.
2. Clone the App and create a second CS account (if you don't have a second account it will default to one) and go between apps. This works but still is not much smoother than
#1
.
3. Use a different device with the second Joule as John mentioned.

Thank you for that information. My second Joule hasn't arrived yet so I hadn't been able to test. Did you separately pair Bluetooth and WiFi on the same account but different devices?

Todd has done it, posted above so we know it works.

Load the Joule app on both devices. Log in using the same account. When you pair the first Joule to a device, it will automatically show up on the second device. You have to unpair the first Joule on your second device before pairing the second Joule to that device.
Sounds more complicated than it is. It does get wonky when you unplug a Joule... but I'd have to go do that to then explain what happens.
