Go to the Recipe: Not-Fried Rice
I'm so glad to hear it worked out for you! Even with all the blunders. Interested to hear what you think when you try it with all the proper ingredients.
Wow, this was amazing! I even had blunders with the wok hei sauce - we just moved states, and I realized tonight that I hadn't yet restocked toasted sesame or chicken bullion - but it was still delicious. I can't wait to make it again with all the ingredients.
We have step photos but no videos for this recipe. We aren't able to produce videos for every recipe/article that we publish; video production and editing is very costly and time-consuming, so we reserve it for technically complex recipes and/or techniques that can't be taught through still photography alone. If we provided video for every piece of content we publish, we wouldn't be able to put out nearly as much content as we do with our small team!
For simpler recipes like this one, we've found photography and detailed written instructions to be sufficient for conveying all the necessary information for people to achieve successful results in the kitchen. For many recipes, step photos are easier/better for the actual cooking user experience as you follow instructions during cooking. Double-checking that you're in the right ballpark with a visual cue is a lot easier to do with a photo than pausing and restarting a step video while you're managing things on the stovetop for something like "Add rice and cook, stirring frequently, until grains are coated in fat and slightly translucent, about 30 seconds."
Hope that helps provide some transparency on the matter, and with all that said, we'd love to hear what content you want video for! Cheers.
would love to see Video that is what I am paying for?
