Ask a question and get an answer from a chef

This is the part we're most excited about. When you start a new post, you can now choose a discussion or ask our chefs a question. Pick Question, and it lands with our chefs. Stuck on a technique, chasing a food-science rabbit hole, second-guessing your dinner-party menu? Just ask. You'll hear back from someone who cooks for a living. Just want to post the way you always have? Nothing's changed—hit New Post, pick All Posts, carry on. The new stuff is there when you want it, out of the way when you don't.

New profile page & badges

We added a new community profile page with badges to mark the things worth celebrating: how long you've been part of this community, and how much you've jumped in. So many of you have been here cooking with us for years, so we went back and awarded these badges retroactively. If you've been cooking with us for a while, check your profile. Your years and contributions are already on the board. You earned them, and we’re so glad you’re here.

One more thing: a new welcome page

New folks now have a front door—a quick tour of how the place works, what a free account gets you, and what Studio Pass unlocks. Know someone who'd love it here? Send them to the Welcome page.

How to make your next post

Pick the room that fits from the home page, or tap New Post as usual.

Choose Discussion to begin a conversation.

Select Question to ask our chefs directly. Once you select a category (or All Posts), tap Accept.

Write your message, select a tag if you'd like to, then post it!

We invite you to poke around, say hi in Mise en Place, show off a dish in What's For Dinner, or ask our chefs a question from any room. This community has always been about all of us cooking and learning together—we hope these updates make that experience even better.

@whenric We totally hear you and are in full agreement that that rebuilding the CS space is going to require long-term care and attention! We are committed to making this a great space for our community of curious and knowledgable cooks where you can spark conversation and get complex cooking questions answered by real experts. We think that is more valuable than ever as platforms like FB have become borderline unusable, and finding trustworthy information online is getting harder and harder.

This is just the beginning. Hopefully you've noticed that over the past few months our culinary and editorial teams have been devoting more time and attention to discussions and comment threads. And we've got a lot more planned for the future!

This is great! I have wanted a better community space for a long time! 2 things tho:

CS community has been neglected for a LONG time. I think most of of 'long timers' here have learned to ignore it because of this. I think it will require long-term care and attention to reverse this. I WANT this space to work 'cause I hate FB, but even I have stopped checking it as much because historically not much happens here.

I personally would still like to have an option to see 'all posts' from newest. That way I don't have to check through all different spaces to see what has been posted.
