App Update: Hello, is it us you’re searching for?

Everybody: Guess what? Joule app version 2.39.0 is here! And we’re pretty excited. Here’s why:

With this new version, we’re debuting search! You can look through the guides for any meat or other treat your heart desires.
But wait! There’s more. You can use search to peruse the full recipe catalog at chefsteps.com! Just tap the search bar at the top of the screen to get started.
Oh, and hey: we want to hear from you. If you use our Connection Troubleshooter, you’ll now be prompted to rate your experience. Tell us EVERYTHING.
Meanwhile, our software team’s shoe soles are looking pretty gross, or so we’re guessing—because the team squashed a lot of bugs.

Very nice! I'm glad you are continuing to add content and update. I don't have my joule yet so I'm not going to review for iOS just yet...but here is my feedback:

-I hope you will always keep the app content free for us with CS premium accounts. The fact you have some guides labeled free in the app worries me that someday you will have recipes that have to be paid for.

-The search is a great step in the right direction. I would love to have the ability to see all recipes as a library though without the need for the app to open safari. A catalog of sorts right on my phone or tablet. I know you have the CS app which is separate but it would be really great if both were integrated into a single app.

Just FYI, this update switched my default temperature unit from Celsius to Fahrenheit on its own.

Great idea, however that is a LOT of memory to do all recipes on your phone.....and with videos probably not doable. As for the free/premium part remember that there is only one app out here and this helps NON Premium members understand what they can use now, AND what they are missing....nice marketing to move them to Premium...

I checked my Joule app this morning and I'm running 2.38.1. I was anticipating an update but none so far. However, I've got the search function and the link to CS recipes. So am I cool on the new software or should I be looking yet for an update?

UPDATE:. Received the official update moments ago that delivered version 2.39 so good to go!

Very nice. I especially like that the search function is connected to the entire ChefSteps catalog. Great addition!

That is a great point with the video and space. I'm not sure on that, but I am confident that the pictures and text would not take up too much space. Just basing that off the fact that I can download a 100 page PDF manual with color pictures and they are around 1-2 MB. Maybe embed the video into the recipe so it streams? I just don't like having my app switch to safari and to be honest with you, the CS page is really sluggish on a phone or tablet.

The other App I was referring to is the CS app which is on the iPad (or tablet). It has the egg calc and all of the CS recipes. Maybe its been removed now?
