Polyscience 300 vs. VP215

I had a bad experience with a defective Vacmaster circulator and their customer service, so I'm considering going up to the PS 300 over the VP 215. But it's hard to look past the extra cost and supposed lower durability (piston versus oil pump).

How much louder, slower, and shorter lifetime should I expect the air piston pump in the PS 300 to be? Is it that significant when compared to an oil pump like in the VP215?

Can the pump in either unit be replaced by the user if/when it fails?

The PS seems to be a little more shallow, does anyone using the PS unit find they need the extra depth?

Are there any more industrial units that have been around for years and easier to repair/service for years to come, at a slightly higher price? If paying a few hundred more means I can repair it for years.

The oil pump is $239, takes about 1h to replace. I just did it today.
Replaced it is pretty much silent. I had a lemon pump, it only lasted 6 years

and Ary profoundly apologized for that, walked me through the change, how

to do it, what materials I needed (2x4 blocks to lift it up), size wrenches.

I figured it would be an easy mechanical fix as long as the pump is readily available. I wonder if you were in warranty, if they would ship you the pump to do it yourself. It would be easier to replace than to ship the whole unit back to them, I guess.

I have a VP215 and I am very happy with it. I've had it about a year now with no problems. If you check on their website or webstaurant.com parts are available. I got mine at webstaurant with free shipping and a great price. Webstaurant has amazing service IMHO.

They would ship the pump if under warranty I think. Yes, it is a heavy box

See below for comments on replacing/repairing the pump. That said, I have the VP-215 and have been very, very happy with it. It's about 4+ years old now and no issues. And yeah, it is a heavy beast!
