Bags and buying in bulk?
ppax86
Hello,
If you purchase the bulk package of chicken breasts or salmon that are individually wrapped and sealed, can you cook it in the bag it was packaged in? Same idea with something like Omaha steaks? Thank you in advance!

Thank you everyone. I think I will just play it safe and repackage. Didn't think about the seasoning and searing aspect at the time of the original post.

You can, I have done it with a few things. Grant demonstrated it with store bought bacon. That said, for most things it would be better with some seasonings or a pre sear.

While you probably can/could, for me I would repackage. First for seasoning and presearing as pd already said. But also because I am not comfortable cooking food in plastic packaging that might or might not be up to sous vidability.

Well you could but..... with some proteins you'll want to brine then pre-sear and the other deal is you'll want some seasoning in there. Hope that helps. Others here will be arriving shortly... I'm sure!
Anyway good luck and show us pics!
Also if you actually do that make sure you get any stickers off the bag beforehand cause me thinks joule will not like that.
