Knowing a number of people (including my wife) who grew up and/or still work in the wheat belt of Western Australia, grain silo explosions are a very real threat.

Other fun facts from spending time on wheat/sheep farms, it is very easy to drown in a grain silo, damp hay can spontaneously combust, and sheep are very, very, very dumb animals (but tasty).

Yes, grain silos explode every now and then from an aerosol of grain dust reaching ignition temperature.

Our 5th grade science teacher, Mr. Griffin, demonstrated such.

He sat us all down around a very large table.

He sat at the end of the table with a candle in front of him.

He rolled some flour up in a piece of paper and blew it above the candle toward the center of the table! WOOOSH!!!!!

It was quite shocking!! LOL
