I was helping out in the kitchen on Thanksgiving and long after the cooking was done my cousin remarked, "Why are you still wearing your apron?"
I love aprons! They do more than keep you clean, they hold towels, pot holders, timers, thermometers and cell phones, pens and paper. It's also a fashion statement -- you look good, you cook good!
However most aprons are total garbage -- thin fabric, poorly designed, bad cut, gimmicky imprints, etc. Also, many seem to be designed for housewives.
Any suggestions for places to get cool aprons? Innovative features like:
- pockets, towel holders, etc.
- good selection of high-quality materials and colors -- custom choices is even better
- attention to detail
- different strap, high quality fasteners, etc.
My collection is:
Have two Hadley & Bennet aprons.
One from Medium Rare Chef.
My GF custom ordered me one from Etsy with my university's logo. (There are some NCAA licensed fabrics.)
A basic one from a restaurant supply store (Chef Works, IIRC)
Other shops I know of are:
Butcher and Baker
