Bluetooth Pairing

My phone (Galaxy S4) sees Joule but won't pair with it. I consistently get an error message. I read the FAQs on the support page and tried everything that was suggested with one exception. One FAQ cautions:

"Make sure you are not trying to pair with Joule through your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth settings."

My question is: What other way is there? I've paired dozens of devices over the past 3 years using my phone's bluetooth settings. I've searched the Joule app. But I could find no mention of Bluetooth pairing. I must be missing something.

I opened a ticket late last week. But with the holiday and all the new customers, I'm sure the customer support team is swamped.

Any thoughts?

I open the Joule app, then click the orange power icon in the bottom right corner. Hope that helps!

You pair it in the Joule app on your phone, not in your phone settings. Open the Joule app, click the three lines on the top left, click settings, devise settings and pair. When you open the app it usually will guide you through pairing. Joule needs to be plugged in and you need to be near Joule and you need to press on the top of Joule when the app tells you to. Hope that helps.

Chiming in - yep, it doesn't pair in that way. It only pairs through the app.

(My wife did it that way too, in the beta. I think they are working the feedback, but it may be lower in the stack rank.)

I don't see a "pair" option in the device settings menu. I can connect to wi-fi with no trouble. But still no luck with bluetooth. I don't need it at home. But I'm looking to gift Joule to my son. He lives in a rural area with very unreliable internet service. I'm going to visit him later in the month and bring my Joule along so he can try it. He may need to connect via bluetooth.

In any event, thanks Michael, John and Max for responding.

Still waiting for customer support to respond to my ticket. They must be busy as hell!

In device settings it is the top item, Wifi is the bottom one.
