Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

I am about to order a Joule, but I had a question first.

Does Joule work on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth? If Wi-Fi, does Joule have to be connected to an external Wi-Fi source for it to work? If Bluetooth, does it have to be within your phone's range to work? I ask this because I was curious if it would work in places where Wi-Fi is not available, and if so will it work just on Bluetooth. Thank you!

If Wi-Fi is not available, it will fall back on Bluetooth, which requires your device to be within range to control it. If I'm not mistaken though, if you lost connection with Bluetooth, the Joule should continue to hold that cook temperature. Anyone know if that's not the case?

Yes, Joule will follow the program you entered even when your device is out of range.

Exactly what I needed to know. I have to take my phone and iPad away for work in a few minutes. I have the 24 hour chuck steak going and it's good to know Joule will keep running.
