Sous vide supplies in Canada

Hey all,

I am looking for sous vide closed cell foam tape so I can put a thermoworks pro needle probe into my food without the bag leaking.

Anyone have a source in Canada for that kind of stuff without ordering from the states?

Are you c/vac-ing? If not you don't have to completely seel the bag. Just drape the open end over the edge of your vessel and clip .. then probe on as usual.

As a side I would love to know if this is possible. I have a pretty good background in foams and adhesives but what I'm wondering is if there wouldn't be some sort of equilibrium wanting to take place as the bag is under vacuum and the water bath is pressure on the bag, not to mention the heat to help water pass?

I'm in Vancouver. I would have thought it would be easier to find stuff in Toronto. A good restaurant supply store should have the tape, I bought mine in one (in London though). If they don't have it they should be able to either order it. That said, I rarely use it, when you need to check on temp, you are talking about short cooking times, in that case I prob the product and stick it in a ziplock bag with the probe coming out of the open bag and use the water displacement trick, it works a charm.
