Here's a list borrowed from another forum that's good... provided by a local chef there. The last place I ate there was Ned Lund had a really good meal. A lot of these I haven't tried but these are places that I'm going investigate further for sure!!

Hi Jason,

Portland is such a great dining city—you will have an awesome time. We go a lot, and right now I can not speak highly enough about Coquine. It's a bit of an uber ride or drive to Mt. Tabor, but the neighborhood is beautiful and the restaurant is just really special. I also love Ava Gene's and Renata for Italian.

Pok Pok hands down is the first stop, get the fish sauce wings and thank me later.. Then you need to hit Ox for amazing beef and thank me again later. Then hit Apizza Scholls for some of the best pizza in the country and praise me yet again. From there look at Eater PDX heat map and you won't go wrong. So much good food in PDX you need 6 months and a corporate card to truly appreciate what has been happening here for the past 6-10 years.

Hi Jess, we tried to get reservations for coquine but they were unavailable. I ended up with reservations for Castanga and Nogoduro. Have you tried either one? Also do you have any brunch spot recs on a sunday?

Hi Jason,

Never been to Nogoduro but really want to! Let me know how it is. Castagna is an institution and I hear it's really good these days—I don't think you'll go wrong there. Whenever i go to Portland, I always have brunch at Tasty N Alder. The wait list is usually epic (so it goes with Portland brunch, as immortalized on Portlandia). But the Bloody Marys, Korean fried chicken, and fried egg and cheddar biscuit are all worth waiting for, and there's lots to do around that neighborhood while you dream of delicious brunch dishes. Oh! And if you need some pre-brunch sustenance to tide you over, check out Nuvrei. It's a modern bakery with seriously leveled-up treats like mini canelé and rose croissants. Really special.
