Will Joule ever be able to connect to 5GHz networks?

The current model: I don't think so, since that requires a hardware-upgrade.
PS: you accidentally posted your question 4 times, could you remove the others?? TY

I don't know why it would need to connect to a 5GHz network. Usually you use 5GHz for faster data throughput, which I don't think Joule would need.

Maybe because some people only use 5GHz network at home... just guessing.

Nope. The primary advantage of 5 GHz is faster data rates, which has no benefit for Joule. And it comes with significant downsides, including reduced range, more prone to interference, and major certification headaches (in many parts of the world the 5 GHz spectrum is very close to other high-priority/military spectrums, and so the certification costs and constraints go up enormously).
At the end of the day, we made tradeoffs for Joule that yield a well-balanced product in terms of performance, quality, reliability, and cost.

Chris, as a professional in wired and wireless networking (Enterprise Architect at a major airline) You have some major misunderstandings on how wireless networking works. Without getting too technical the reduced range is a benefit. It keeps other networks from getting into your wireless talk zone and causing interference. The way wireless networks work is only one device can talk at a time on that channel. It doesn't matter if the other device is on your network, or someone else's, they are all sharing the same airspace. With a long range frequency your devices have to wait for all your neighbours devices to finish before their turn to talk. This becomes a big issue when you are in an area with dozens, or hundreds of other devices. Some office buildings, neighbourhoods, and especially apartment buildings are entirely unusable on 2.4ghz networks due to the extreme cross talk. I am in one of those buildings. My 2.4ghz network is nearly useless.
As a product that lives or dies on its ability to maintain a solid connection, not having 5ghz support is a major oversight.
