awsome!!!
wolfiegirl
Mine are STILL in limbo at DHL in Buenos Aires..... I'm ready to cancel!!
Brandon_Byrd_40557
And how long did you wait on Joule?
wolfiegirl
Joule wasn't shipping from Argentina. Supposed to be here last Friday, then today. Now the shipping status is 'delivery date unknown'. I've spoken with DHL on Friday and they couldn't give me any information other than what is on there tracking online. I'm going to call them tomorrow to determine what my next step will be.
Brandon_Byrd_40557
Right... your Joule came from China. It sounds like you just ran into a shipping issue with DHL. I'm surprised that happened, given how fast the shipping has been in the past. But things happen, and the pans are worth the wait (and weight). At least in my opinion. I wouldn't sweat it. (But feel free to sweat it, if that's your thing.)

You can send an email to Darto and have them track it from their end. I've sent them email and they responded. Just click "contact" on their website.

I sent Darto an email explaining the whole DHL "Uncontrollable Clearance Delay" issue so we shall see what happens. Thanks for the heads up on contacting Darto via their site. I had visions of me trying to habla my feeble espaΓ±ol via the phone and it sent chills downs my spine.
fisher23
They responded in understandable English.

Patience grasshoppers....they are soooooo worth the wait.
pd3ski_278514
Absolutely! I was curious one night at about 10pm or so and emailed a question... Nicolas responded ten minutes later! I was shocked, considering they were about to have their 50% off sale and were probably up to their knees in free shipping stuff.

Hey
@Brandon_Byrd_40557
I think if would be greatly appreciated for anyone who hasn't seen, if you could post the ATK method for pan seasoning again. I really appreciated when I got my new Darto pans when you had previously posted it. I tried to find it but wasn't able to.
wolfiegirl
Copy that. Waiting patiently sir!!

I contacted via email Darto for the second time and have not heard one single word back. I also called DHL again this morning. I was to have received a phone call yesterday from their international people but that never happened so they sent an email (they tell me) that I didn't get because they had misspelled the email address. SOooooooo.....I got a tad mmmm...upset shall I say, this morning when the DHL lady told me that the phone call I didn't get yesterday was now not gonna happen until tomorrow by close of business. That didn't set right with me so long story short I spoke with a VERY helpful person in another department (who also corrected my email address as well as gave me their direct line). That being said (aren't you glad you asked?!? LOL!), what I found out is that my lovely Darto order is sitting somewhere in Customs for some unknown reason. Could be the paperwork was incorrect. Or incomplete. Or it's a random hold. Nobody really knows. I did manage, however, through my own personal investigation, find out that it's located here......
UPDATE: Finally got an email from Nicolas at Darto stating the DHL is held to $1000 per day in shipments. (I have NO idea what that means). But in the meantime, I once again checked the status of the waybill and FINALLY my package has been cleared and processed! Hallelujah Jesus! What an ordeal! Geez louise.
fisher23
I could tell you stories that would fill a book about Customs holds..lol! At least you know it is on the way now.

The eagle has landed....the pans are in Miami!!!
pd3ski_278514
I've done about six hot oil zamboni treatments so far and they are looking good! My left hand is a little sore from flipping those brutes around that much though. Did a couple of chicken breasts yesterday and they are getting nicely nonstick π A fried egg only grabbed a little near an edge..... not bad at all!
@Brandon
Bird ... thanks for pushing me over the edge on these pans! I waited too long π
adey73
did you use the potato skin method or just oil?
elsewhere on here someone mentioned using liquid lecithin with the oil but that goes rancid.
anyone tried that?Β
(mine have arrived in the UK but am still in Russia).
pd3ski_278514
Well because I scrubbed the hell out of them with lacquer thinner and hit some of the nicks lightly with 220 sandpaper I went straight to the oil. I used olive veg and avocado in different cycles to get a mix of polymers. I don't know but seems to work pretty good π
Don't know about the lecithin?
Hope that helps.
Happy holidays!βοΈ

The original/primary source for ATK's (*not* potato-peels-salt-oil) seasoning method, and the source for many similar methods can be found at...
http://sherylcanter.com/wordpress/2010/01/a-science-based-technique-for-seasoning-cast-iron/
...which also explains the rationale and science. Highly recommended reading for anyone seasoning a new pan, or stripping-seasoning an old pan (edit: carbon steel or cast iron).
fisher23
When I seasoned mine for the first time, I added about 1/4 lecithin with the oil on one and one without. The one with the lecithin seasoned quicker and only took about three coats. Now after a year of use they are about the same.
Mike_Kisiel_129680
My seasoning is flaking off my pan. Any ideas?
brian_martin2001
how are you seasoning it?
fisher23
I assume they have arrived? What did you think?
