Joule in a quart container
Dat_Phan_279256
How I poach my 75 C eggs for breakfast. Up to temp in 3 minutes.
My morning routine is wake up, fire up Joule from bed, throw 2-3 eggs in, and shower. By the time I get out of the shower the eggs are just about ready to eat.

Life. Goals.

Good routine!

Thanks. It really beats waiting for a larger container to heat up, especially when I just want to eat something before I rush out the door.

I'd love to see someone attempt this in a hotel room!

I'm sure it's doable. the main tricky part is propping up Joule since quart containers alone aren't stable enough to support Joule. Maybe if you use 2 quart containers back to back, with the clip spanning both containers. Yeah, I think that would work actually.

This was literally what I wanted to do when I bought Joule too. I want to see if I could just throw the eggs in the night before, that way the only thing I would have to do when I wake up is set Joule--one less trip to the kitchen in the morning. I think it requires some experimentation since it'll play around with the cook, but if it works, I might start to get into this habit as well!

hotel room cooks. He did whole meals.

Michael,
Here's a few from the hotel room when I was a beta tester (chicken, eggs, quinoa, cod and ravioli) all done in my hotel room:

Starting with eggs already in the container the night before and heating up water from cold sounds doable. Just would require some experimenting to figure out the timing. I use the 13 minutes ChefSteps recommends for 75 C, but I'm guessing it'll be 1-2 minutes extra starting with cold water, depending on the size of your container, how much water you use, and how long it takes to get up to temp.

depends on the hotel. Hard plastic containers work, but I always used at least one 2gallon ZL bag to house the water inside the tank (for main meals, eggs not so much). Some use aluminum which stands up better on its own, but has its limitation as one can imagine.

How temperamental are these eggs? I've tried the 75C egg before and the whites still tend to be quite loose.

For the eggs I buy I've had consistent results as long as I pull the eggs out at the right time and dunk them in some cool water for a bit to stop the cooking. If you pull the eggs out at 12m30s you're going to get something different than at 13m00s and different from 13m30s, etc.
I think it matters a lot how cold the eggs are when you start the 13 minutes. People's fridges are different temperatures and people could also be starting with room temperature eggs. You may need to adjust your timing to account for the starting temperature of your eggs.
Also, I think the freshness of the egg matters some. I usually use up my eggs within a week of buying them.
