Defrosting a turkey with Joule?
glogrono
Hi everyone, I have a turkey I'd like to drefrost. Was thinking I could just drop it in the water bath and let Joule circulate. What temp should I set it to?

You don't want to use warm water to thaw a turkey, as the center will still be frozen while the exterior hangs out in the danger zone. If you need to thaw rapidly, put the turkey in a deep sink filled with cold water. Flip it and change the water every 30 minutes.
You can rapidly thaw steaks, chops, and other small items using warm water, but it's not a good idea to do it with a large piece of poultry.

Joule isn't the tool for that. You would want your water to circulate at or below 40° to be safe. Joule's lowest temperature is 68°F. I would not suggest this. Do the cold water method as Brandon said.

If you are really in a hurry, Thermoworks posted a method of
oven roasted frozen turkey.
