Poultry, to wash or not to wash, that is the question.......
DiggingDogFarm_65362
I've always washed and will continue to wash.
Not everyone is an idiot who splatters the rinse all over the kitchen.
Regardless, I sanitize all surfaces after cooking anyway.

I remember hearing the same thing from the America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Illustrated guys a few years ago. I rinse my birds if they come wrapped in plastic, but I also sanitise my work area before and after when dealing with raw meat.
If you want to reduce the spreading of bacteria around the house, keep the toilet seat
down

Just to extend the discussions further, I've heard of an old wives tale from two people recently.
Apparently, rubbing salt or bi carb soda or rinsing the chicken in a diluted vinegar bath can help rid of excess hormones or antibiotics in the chicken. Is there any truth to this?

Rid chickens of excess hormones and antibiotics?
No, I sure don't think so.
FWIW, hormone use in chicken production is illegal in the USA, but other growth stimulants may be used.

Agree, no truth to that wives tale.

If that worked I think parents would have been washing their teenagers in vinegar for a long time....
