With the recently announce support for Alexa, I was wondering if anyone from the Chefsteps team knows if there are plans to support the upcoming Google Home as well.

How To Joule

At ChefSteps, we want you to be able to control joule the way you want, when you want and in any situation you might be in during your cooking process. Sometimes this is when you're at the market buying groceries, you've got your hands full washing dishes, or just lazy watching Monday night football. At the moment, Google Home doesn't offer the flexibility to add skills in the same way Alexa does. That being said, we've preordered a Google Home.

I'm gonna go ahead and translate here. What Huy means is that the Google Assistant API isn't publicly available yet, so they can't develop any features for it until they release it. This should be available in December as part of the Actions by Google program. Maybe we can get an update then.

Huy,
I'm new to Google Home, but not to Joule (I LOVE IT). I'm wondering if the IFFT integration might work for Joule. They call them recipes:

Google just announced Actions to be available:

Any updates to this question. Google actions are readily available now.
Dominic_Ferrantelli_529257
Not only that but ifttt would make extra actions available on both platforms. That said Assistant integration has been open for months now... Any news??

I've had google home and joule for a while. I've been hoping for this feature. Just "set temp" and "stop" is fine. I always use the google home timer and not the in app timer anyway. Any update?

It would be nice to hear if this is on the roadmap or not to help people make their purchase decisions? Haven't seen any updates in a while despite Assistant API being available for 5 months now. I get that these things take time but an update would be nice if it is coming at all.

I wanted to add my voice to the issue around Google Home support. I use my Joules in multiple homes where I have Google Home devices in every kitchen and I want to be able to use Google Home to control my Joules basic functions e.g. "set/change temperature, start, stop, pause". Additional functionality would be great however I would love to be able to use some basic capability as soon as possible.

Also dropping in to check on Google Home support. I've been crossing my fingers for a while!

+1, would love to get this.

Huy, there is a growing number of smart home devices (70+) being announced for Google Home that you can see here, including the main SV competitor with Joule ( that except for that feature doesn't change our love for Joule ) please give us hope and more passion ! Can we expect Joule on this list :

Hey Huy! Just wanted to check back in and see if you have any idea on a timeline for Google Home/Assistant support. Thanks

Please please add Google Assistant capability to Joule!! I love my Joule, but the fact that there are no manual controls on it means that voice control is even MORE important. I know I'm spoiled and impatient, but the Joule app loads SO slowly on my phone that my user experience of starting up Joule is a negative one. Every. Single. Time. Adding Google Assistant compatibility would change this entirely!

It's been a year since this post - why is there still no Google Home / Assistant support?
Dave_Young_742863
+💯 Google home integration with IFTTT support is kinda a requirement at this point to claim the Joule is a smart device or even high tech.
Pulling a phone out of my pocket to unlock it and task switch back into the Joule app to find out how much time is left is a pain in the butt.
I'd much prefer using commends or shortcuts like "ok Google, how's dinner?" Or "ok Google is the <joule name> up to temperature yet?"
I'd also love to have joule notify me over the Google home that the water is at temperature and ready for me to add the <food item> or warn me that the food will be ready in 2-5 Minutes.
IFTTT could make it easy to change my light settings when the joule is up to temperature, or a dish being ready.

This needs to be your top priority. If you aren't going to put manaul controls on your devices, you need to aggressively support these kinds of intergrations.

Google home devices are now outselling Echo devices and, to quote the linked article, with Google Assistant being "widely regarded as the 'smartest' disembodied AI" the lack of progress regarding Joule integration is rather disappointing.
I'm in the market for another SV device and the hassle of having to pull out my phone and wait for it to connect to the Joule before I can do anything is the one reason why I'm not considering a second Joule.

It would be great if implemented with Google home, combine that with IFTTT I can have my meal start cooking when I leave work.
Mark_Moreimi_622850
I would love to see eventual IFTTT integration... Flash my Hue Lights when the food is done or when the water reaches proper cooking temperature, etc...

Love the responsiveness from the Chefsteps Team so far. On the other hand, it's so exciting to have Facebook messenger integration. That's a real charm. </sarcasm>
