Estimated Time to Preheat Water

It would be nice to have an estimated time to preheat the water instead of just waiting for the ding, which I don't always hear.

That's not a bad idea. But estimates depend on factors beyond Joule, such as the ambient temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and the size of the water bath. The container you use also matters. I'm sure Joule could calculate a reasonable estimate based on its own performance, but it's probably better to just use Joule enough in practice so that you develop a decent intuitive sense of how long things take to heat up in your own usage context.
