Relentless Low Water Error

Brand new Joule, plugged it in for the first time, got it all setup for two nice steaks, won't stop saying "water too low" error on the app

checked the foot and the propeller (fine, literally brand new)

factory reset twice

did some stupid cold water trick

great first time experience with Joule...

Ignoring cost (and the more expensive Anova Pro, which is impressively powerful, I hate waiting for water to heat up), and app only interface (which annoys some people), Joule is a far better designed, more robust circulator than the comparable Anovas. CS's customer service was also legendary (regularly replacing out of warranty units that failed).

On the huge Reddit sous vide group, I tracked Anova and Joule problems for the better part of a year, adjusted by the number of users (based on polling the subred) and found that the Anovas had a failure rate ~7X the rate of Joules. Possibly some bias because Anovas were released earlier, but still the difference was dramatic.

Of course this was all pre-Breville, and things like reliability and customer service may be different now. But short of possibly the Anova Pro, I would never buy an Anova circulator. My two 2017 Joules are still running perfectly.

I'm the moderator of the combi steam oven group on Reddit, and you can pry my Anova oven from my cold dead fingers. But the reliability issues are almost laughable. Not a fan of Anova's manufacturing prowess.
