Recipe Search

There used to be a search function on the recipe page more in the middle of the screen which is now gone. When I try to use the search function in the upper right of the screen it doesn't really search the recipes. For example "ribs" or "pastrami" brings up ice cream and slider buns and chive oil. Am I missing something?

Hi Steve - when you are on the main site, if you type "ribs" into the search box on the navigation bar, or if you go to the recipe gallery (http://www.chefsteps.com/gallery) and type ribs in to the box on the top left, either way you should get a page full of meat that looks like this:

http://www.chefsteps.com/gallery?#/?sort=Relevance&published_status=Published&activity_type=Any&difficulty=Any&generator=ChefSteps&search_all=ribs

If not, a screenshot that includes the address bar will help us figure out what is going wrong. Sorry for any inconvenience!

LOL, that doesn't look anything like my screen. I must really have something wrong. No inconvenience, it would be helpful to search, that's all.

It seems as though you haven't searched anything. The result is just the most recent published recipes

Ah, I think @Tim Salazar fixed that problem today. Is it better now?

@Michael Natkin, it appears to be an IE problem. Even compatibility view doesn't fix it. It seems like IE is making the header way too big and maybe covering up search, filter sort. At work today, I grabbed a computer with Chrome on it and the page displays properly. Under IE 10 I still get the screen I pasted above. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

Hi @SteveM -- I checked again today, it looks okay to me:

This is IE 11 on Windows 7. Can you tell me what browser/windows version you're on?

In the meantime, you can always use the search in the top-right hand corner as well.

Hi @Tim Salazar, I am using IE10 on Win 7. The search in the upper right corner doesn't work for me either. Here is an image of what I get searching for "ribs" from there. For some reason the top of the page ( the ChefSteps cook smarter region) on mine are way bigger than the screen images you and Michael posted. This is probably a good thing since it keeps me from spending a lot of time looking at recipes while I am at work. My tablet at home is android and it works fine using Chrome.

just found the bug! i'm pushing a fix now, should be available in the next half-hour or so. hope that helps—let us know if you have any other issues; wouldn't want you to get too bored at work

Oh yeah, back to normal. Thank you very much and in case you haven't guessed it, we're having ribs this weekend. Thanks again for fixing it Tim!
