New site design

I like it, beside everything
new is better.., supposedly; I like the clear and slim appearance. Could you get
the recipe and resources links also in the forum head? Would make it just
perfect!

I love it! However, the only critique I have is about the community recipes.

In the new site design it has become harder to find community recipes, unless you know what you're looking for. A first-time user has to stumble upon the filter feature to find them. If I didn't know better, I'd think community recipes are included in the recipe page and filtering separates the CS recipes from the Community recipes. Instead, the filter automatically filters out the community recipes without visually communicating it does that. I think there might be a way to better communicate this segregation.

@Patrik Hi Patrik, we have a much more involved idea for voting on classes that we'd love to implement someday, so stay tuned!

@Pepijn You're absolutely right about the filter happening on search—Your suggestion is exactly the fix we're thinking of—Removing all filters on any search. This will allow "Butchering a Halibut" to show when you've filtered on Recipes in addition to surfacing all the great community recipes we're seeing. Huy is on it!

Uhhmm, as a "newbie" the ability to reference multiple recipes on one page, either CS or Community

was an inspiring/motivating experience while slowly collecting gear. Now with a limit of 12 recipes,

limited to "Newest, Oldest and Popular" - whether CS or Community, definitely limits the casual visitor

from finding the wealth of knowledge on the this awesome site.

@Dennis Sanders, I don't seem to have that limit. I can click 'load more' to load additional recipes. Not sure what you mean by being able to reference multiple recipes on one page.

although definitely not a priority, I'd love to see a better search engine at one point. Searching for beef results in 1. Soubise Fluid Gell, 2. Brioche Burger Buns and 3. Understanding Activia. Prioritising on actual ingredients used instead of date published seems to make more sense. As the list of published recipes grows, the need for a good search engine will grow as well.

@tim salazar one thing I have noticed that is a bit annoying is that when you click the search icon on the front page (www.chefsteps.com) the search field opens up but the focus doesn't jump to the box so you have to click within the text field a second time in order to enter text. Ideally, you would click the search icon and then be able to start typing immediately.

@dennis sounds like a bug—as you scroll, more content should be loaded. is that not happening? if not, let me know what browser/os please?

@dennis I haven't been able to reproduce this bug. Can you check to see if you have javascript turned on your browser? If you do and the bug still exists, can you open the developer console and print screen the errors you see? Thanks for patience.
