Couple new gripes

Figured I'd combine these into one post.

1) Uploaded a photo to the What's For Dinner thread via mobile phone last night and the process took about 10 minutes. First, the thread itself was extremely difficult to locate; it wasn't among the most recent updates, despite seeing that there were new posts in the thread in the 'old' forum. Second, the reason it took so long to find was the cumbersome search functionality. As I typed 'd-i-n-n-e-r' the search would begin after each letter was typed, which caused massive lag on my device (Sammy Galaxy S3, Kit Kat 4.4.2)

2) It does not appear that the What's For Dinner? thread on the old forum is the same as the one in the new forum. For example, the post I made in the beta forum does not appear in the old forum, and there are a large number of posts in the thread on the old forum that do not appear in the beta version. Is this just a migration thing?

3) When you get a notification, it would be useful if you could open that notification in a new tab/window. Currently, if you center-mouse click nothing happens, and if you right-mouse click to open the menu, new tab and new window are not available options.

I think they just ported the old forum across but it doesn't update simultaneously AFAIK.

You're correct, we migrated the old data last week. We plan to make the old forum read only so the two aren't further out of sync and to encourage people to use the new Community.

Thanks for the feedback Matt! Brendan is right that the old posts were ported once and the two are not kept in sync as they both run. We'll need to resolve the new posts made on the old forum before we sunset that software.

Regarding what's for dinner, we have exciting plans on the front, stay tuned

Regarding your slow search typing, we aren't getting lag like that during our testing, but we'll keep trying and report back.

Good suggestion on the middle clicking of notifications, it should definitely be possible and we'll work on it.

edit: made a few upgrades on search mentioned in http://www.chefsteps.com/forum/posts/0d0410d3-4ea7-4a8e-b4c3-fa87f52ff4d1 that might make things better.
