Posting Guidelines

Will there be posting guidelines for the forum? Something akin to the sidebar found on reddit subs?

I feel like this format is much more welcoming to the greater webgoing public and thus we will get a lot of posts that reflect different levels of internet savvy and therefore increase the noise in the stream. I think basic posting guidelines, something that outlines what, at minimum, is expected in a post for a given category would help with that.

I think that's an interesting idea. In the spirit of crowdsourcing, want to take a crack at writing what you think they could be? Anyone who has an idea could pitch them right here in this comment thread.

For example, for a posting to meet the "Recipe" guideline it would at minimum have to include:

The name of the dish or recipe you have create and/or are troubleshooting
The recipe you followed (optional for posting of foodporn)
The problem you are encountering or the outcome you desire
Any steps you have already taken to try and troubleshoot the issue

Optionally, you are encouraged to post pictures.

My biggest gripe is the influx of "I'm 'X', thanks for making the site", and requests for help that are far too broad to be answered without a lengthy back and forth to get to a point where we actually understand what the person is seeking.

But we have an opportunity in the very earliest stages of a forum to set proper guidelines.
