lighter website

dear Chefsteps,

Your website site is fantastically well designed and beautiful and practical etc...However, when I find myself in a remote location with a dialup-speed like connection I would really appreciate a lighter version more text based when just want to get a quick access to my favorite recipe.

Is that at all in the pipeline ?

Am I the first one to ask ?

Hi @Matthieu_35225 - we think you have a very good point; @Chris_Young_80640 and I were just talking about this last night. The reality is that we don't have the resources right now to spend a lot of time on site performance, but the day will come!

Check your browser and see if there is a "text only" extension. I know there is one for Chrome and an Android app in Windows. You always have the option to load images etc.. if you decide to. after the site loads. Used to be able to just check a box in settings in Explorer but I haven't used that browser for a long time. Lynx makes a strictly text only browser, but this one does not always have an intuitive user interface.

A Google search for your OS and browser may help.

Hi Jeff,

Just installed the TextMode extension for Chrome. It does a great job. Load the site keeping all the rss tuning except that no color is kept and it doesn't load any images. It still displays a Play icon for videos. Videos play in black and white.It's fast ! Thanks for the tip.

i do everything on my iPhone ( maybe THATS why it bent..) anyway I use an app called Pocket to save my favorites. When I'm roaming it's much faster to load and do my shopping. Maybe this will help you.
