Videos not working in Safari 7.1.2

When I try to play the video I just get a blank space where the YouTube player should be. It works in Chrome, and on my iPhone, so I assume the problem is that I don't have Flash installed for Safari. But it should still work, since my iPhone doesn't have Flash either. I've tried setting the user agent to both iPhone and iPad, but it still does not work.

Using Safari 8.0.2 here, no problems. Any reason you are not on Yosemite? We have Macs that are 6 years old running Yosemite with no issues, its slightly better than the prior version.

Yes. I have Yosemite on my work computer but with non-retina external monitors I have to choose between default resolution which causes text to be a skosh too small for my tastes, or decreasing the resolution which makes everything bigger but fuzzier. Since upgrading my displays is not an option right now, I've opted to stay with Mavericks at home for the time being.

Thanks for letting me know it works with Yosemite, though; I may just have to watch the videos at work.

Or use a different browser, Chrome makes sense.
