Free Classes

I heard on a board that if you access Youtube using a proxy from another country you can watch all of you "paid classes" videos. The suggestion is that you are uploading your class videos onto Youtube and then blocking them from being viewed in the US or the Americas only.

Sounded like BS to me, was probably being trolled, but I figured I'd throw it on here anyways just in case.

That's now how the youtube videos work. The videos you get with the paid classes are unlisted, which just means that you can't find them by searching youtube, you have to have the direct link. Anyone with access to the class can give these links to others who haven't paid for the class.

If you go to the youtube page of any of the videos you get in the paid classes you will see a banner that says "This video is unlisted. Be considerate and think twice before sharing."

It would be pretty stupid to region lock the classes to USA, as there are customers outside of the USA as well.

It would be stupid indeed to region lock, which is why it sounded bizarre to me.

Personally, I would be more cautious about allowing a way for people to share the videos, but I guess there's only so much you can do, and it's only a matter of time before the site becomes popular enough that there's a torrent of the classes. C'est la vie.
