How are you liking the new gallery?
michaelnatkin
Have you all noticed the new gallery design?
http://www.chefsteps.com/gallery
We'd love to hear how you like it in terms of visuals, ease of finding what you are looking for, speed, and and any other feedback.
Thanks,
Michael

Clean, yet a bit busy (can't say it's too busy-tough balance). A nice feature within that type of gallery would be able to play it directly in the gallery (e.g. click on the arrow and have it play in the smaller format without having to leave and go back to see others). Almost a nice preview with the option to take it to the full page. Still a tad resource heavy (at least for my PC). Definitey in the right direction though.

Will take a while to get used to, simply because it's new, but the initial impression is positive.

I'm finding it quite helpful. The organization makes it easier for me to scroll through the backlog and see if I've missed anything. Apparently, I'd overlooked the waffle press madness video, which was quite entertaining!

I'm with Brandon, I like the organization much better..

Web sites need to change to keep from becoming stale- this latest update will keep your's fresh. It looks aesthetically pleasing to me but, in reality- if I am looking for something, I'm going to probably hit google and look for the chefsteps url to get the recipe I need from you guys... barring that, I'll just dig through my account to referenced where I saved it.
I think you need to do some work on the accounts area- it is not very "resourceful"; for instance, I can't find things I have posted or commented on. All my cool pictures of my food are... well, I don't know where they are or how to access them save scrolling through the entire forum posts and that is not fun.
Also, I represent the era of the chefsteps' website when everyone's avatar was represented with a gray bust of a featureless human form and it does not change even if you try... that bugs me in some odd "pet peevish" way.
All in all, the site is a good one. I thought your novel approach with using a sentence structure to capture my new account information was pretty cool. I love the template you use for the recipes and of course I find the quality of the videos better than anything else online.
I will say this, the new front page is a great "rabbit hole" for first time visitors; you give them many options to become enlightened for hours and hours.

Hi Bobby, an update to the profiles page is definitely on our roadmap of things to update!

What browser if you don't mind me asking are you viewing ChefSteps through?

Firefox usually. Chrome on occassion, but usually FF.

I love the new visual update! It really brings all platforms (desktop/mobile) into one consistent and clean experience.
However, I found it a little odd that the "Here's the Latest" section doesn't have any button/link to take me to the older stuff, a.k.a. the gallery. Wouldn't it be valuable to funnel first time users directly into the gallery ?
One sample isn't indicative of course, but I've been on this site for a couple of years, and it took me a second to realize that I needed to explicitly click on "Recipes" to be redirected to the gallery.
I'm interested to know what was the thought process behind this choice ?
Keep kickin' ass!

Holy poopsnacks - the search function in the gallery seems to work faster than my thoughts now. Not sure if that's an indication of improved performance or a sign that I'm sorta dim.
